Rewriting my blog... again.
Rewriting my blog... again.
A couple of years ago, I built this site entirely from scratch using Astro v2. Eventually, I decided I just wasn't feeling the style or the overall vibe anymore, so I scrapped it. I ended up switching to Astro Paper, a fantastic prebuilt theme for Astro. I tacked on a few of my own features at the time, like a dark/light mode toggle, and happily ran with that setup for about two years.
Eventually, though, it had been quite a while since I'd make any new content. Behind the scenes, the codebase had fallen into a state of disrepair just from aging out.
Needing a quick, temporary solution, I started poking around for a lightweight CMS that would be simple to set up and maintain. I finally settled on Chyrp-lite. The only real sore spot for me was having to fork it just to tweak the internal Apache module so I could enable URL rewrites. While I really appreciated how easy it was to use, it honestly ended up feeling a little too feature-heavy for my simple needs. I don't need multiple users to log into it, comments seemed nice but I don't quite care to moderate those, and I also didn't like how lacking it was on SEO tools.
So, it was back to the drawing board to build this blog from scratch... again.
This time around, I'm powering the site with Nuxt. I’ve never really spent much time with Vue or Nuxt before, so I'm treating this whole project as a fun learning experience. I made sure to implement a few features I really liked from Chyrp-lite, such as the ability to leave likes and a search function. Maybe I'll eventually redo my main website (auravoid.dev) in Nuxt as well and revive that. Right now, it just redirects to my portfolio.
I'm always looking for feedback as I keep tweaking and tuning things, so please feel free to shoot me a message wherever you can find me online.
